Greg Flaherty

President/ Broker of Record

Greg began his real estate career in 1990, earned his California Real Estate Broker’s License that same year, and never looked back.  Just five years later, he and his wife acquired full ownership of Penny Realty, Inc. and has proudly served as President and Broker of Record ever since.  With over 35 years of experience, Greg has seen just about everything in San Diego Real Estate---often twice!

Armed with a MBA from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of San Diego, Greg combines business savvy with deep local knowledge.  He also holds Certifications in Luxury Home Marketing and Commercial Investment Real Estate, proving that he is as comfortable managing and selling high-end properties as he is solving the occasional plumbing emergency.

Outside of the office, Greg enjoys spending time and traveling with his ever-growing family (four children and two grandchildren which keep him on his toes), playing tennis, and practicing Martial Arts….because sometimes property management and real estate sales require both diplomacy and “a black belt!”  

Greg’s commitment to trust, excellence, and Client-First Service is the foundation of everything Penny Realty stands for.

Vice President

Shayne has always held magnificent passion for teaching and empowering Individuals to be lifelong Learners. She holds professional and personal relationships close to her heart. One of her Mottos to life is that “Knowledge is Power.” She possesses a strong interest in Mathematics and the Real Estate Market.  These themes couple together for her to be driven and hold a Leadership Role at Penny Realty as an Educator/Trainer in HR, Mentor of successful Interpersonal Relationships, and handle the Financial Corporate Accounting at Penny Realty Property Management.

Shayne holds a Bachelor’s in Architectural Design/Engineering, with a minor in Pre-Medicine. Her Post Graduate work culminated in holding a Master’s of Science in Leadership, and an Administrative Credential in Leadership.

In her personal life, Shayne holds her family as “Number One,” consisting of her husband, four children, two grandchildren, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law, mother, and brother, and two adorable and fluffy apricot pups, Sonny and Red. Quality time with family and making lasting memories with these loved ones are priority on weekends and whenever possible.  Shayne does not take life for granted and feels 100% blessed every day.  She appreciates every moment given to her.  Shayne is dearly passionate about charity to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.  In spare time, she enjoys working-out at the gym, going to fun concerts (she loves all genres of live music), and taking her children to do cool explorations and outings, and last, but absolutely never least, having a close relationship with God!

Operations Manager

Mario possesses over 15-years experience in Property Management, specializing in both single-family and multi-family housing.  In the past, Mario was promoted to leadership roles as Field Operations Manager and Regional Manager, overseeing portfolios from 300 to over 2000 units.  Mario holds a California Real Estate License, Certification from the San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC), and an active Member of the California Association of Realtors (C.A.R.).  Mario believes in the simpler traits in life, such as to always attempt to have clear communication, patience is a virtue, possess proactive problem solving, one must have continuous collaboration, and ongoing growth takes you to higher levels in life.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, exploring San Diego’s local farmer’s markets, hiking, biking on trails, picnicking at parks, hitting the range.  Mario is passionate about community engagement, volunteering with organizations, such as the Cub Scouts of America, food banks, and donation centers, and being close to God.

Accountant

James has excavated and charted a unique course as an exceptionally scholarly Finance Professional in Property Management and Real Estate.  James held diverse career roles in steady progression, as Maintenance Technician for Family Housing on Camp Pendleton and Maintenance Manager, but soon discovered his passion and exceptional talent in mathematics.  Drawn to elements of Business Finance, involving budgeting, forecasting, and other accounting functions, it led James to engage in post-graduate school, earning both a Bachelors and Masters  in Accounting from Colorado State University.  James held leadership roles for real estate syndicates, privately-held, and fee management companies.  A rarity for certain, James, as a Professional Accountant, also holds a California Real Estate License as well.  He is an outstanding problem solver, working with sophisticated creativity, and highly resourceful thinking.

In his free time, James enjoys traveling to new lands and to familiar places, volunteering with his local church, coaching little league, collecting cigars, and above all, spending time with his precious and beautiful family.

Business Sales Development Manager

Lucas is seasoned and experienced in professional business development in the property management arena. He brings almost two decades of experience in commercial and residential real estate, leasing strategies, and investor relations.  Lucas drives portfolio growth by cultivating new Client Relationships, identifying expansion opportunities, and connecting Property Owners with tailored management solutions.  Lucas has built a vast and trusted Client Network across the San Diego region and has closed more than $80 million in real estate transactions.  Additionally, he brings added value through his work in container home and ADU development, as well as solar consulting, which helps Clients unlock new and creative income streams and long-term property value.

Lucas is a Graduate of San Diego Mesa College with studies in Fire Science and Real Estate.  Lucas proudly served as a San Diego County Volunteer Firefighter during the 2012-2013 wildfire season. He passionately remains active in causes close to the heart, including the Surf Rider Foundation and San Diego Humane Society.  Outside of work, Lucan can be found surfing, spectating sporting events, hiking unique and innovative terraine, spontaneous travel, attending live music, and soaking in the best of San Diego’s coastal lifestyle.

Joy is highly experienced in Property Management with a wealth of diverse experiences in real estate, ranging from real estate transactions, Tenant Relations, the all aspects of Property Management, with emphasis of legal real estate affairs. She holds a California Real Estate License and her Broker’s License.  Joy is so very proud that she has managed over 1000 properties in her career with significantly large portfolios, handling everything from leasing, maintenance coordination, and financial reporting, with exceptional organizational skills and continuous communication.  She holds an in-depth knowledge of Landlord-Tenant Law.  Joy continues to excel in overseeing residential properties, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering positive relationships between Owners and Tenants. She enjoys the challenge to practice in smooth eloquence, in an area of business that can hold friction at times.  Joy is an exemplary, trusted Professional in the industry, marked by her expertise in market analysis, contract negotiations, and problem solving.

Outside of work, Joy possesses the trust and loyalties of her close friends and family.  She enjoys spending quality time with her cutie Maltipoo pup, named Sahara, taking exciting and expansive cruises, and spending time in the outdoor coastal living being connected to nature.

Andrei is a seasoned Real Estate Professional, who prides himself on his outstanding commitment to his work, his Clients, Owners and Residents, alike, and strong drive to do his best. He is also highly tenacious, self-directed, organized, conscientious, and focused---great traits to possess in the world of Property Management.  Andrei holds a California Real Estate License, and a Designation of Certified Apartment Manager through National Apartment Association.  Additionally, Andrei holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Pre-Doctoral Physical Therapy. He completed a University of San Diego Certificate in the Finance and Development Program, which focused on Legal Aspects of Real Estate, Real Estate Development Process, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Market Analysis, Real Estate Investment and Income Analysis.

In free time, Andrei has served as a Board Member of Hillcrest Business Association, lives an active lifestyle swimming at his favorite pools, hiking throughout the country, and traveling to exciting, new places, with his most recent, favorite trip being to Croatia’s Dubrovnik. Above all, ranking at the top, is spending loving, quality- time with magnificent family.

With over a decade of hands-on experience in Property Management, Emily Young brings deep expertise and dedication to her role at Penny Realty.  Her extensive background spans residential housing, privatized communities, and commercial real estate, giving her a well-rounded and strategic approach to managing diverse portfolios.

Having lived throughout the United States and internationally, Emily approaches her work with a global perspective and a flexible, people-centered mindset, as she loves multi-cultural diversity, exploring different traditions, immersing in lively music and dance from around the world.  Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending weekends with her husband and two sons, exploring the city, and discovering new restaurants, visiting local parks, and going on bike rides together.  

Emily is an active volunteer, dedicating time to her older son’s Boy Scout Troop and ROTC Program.  She also supports her younger son at Autism-related therapies and events.   Emily cheers on her husband’s sumo wrestling tournaments.  Her commitment to family and community reflects the same care and dedication that she brings to her professional work with her Owners, Residents, and Vendors.

Vacation Rental Manager

Hunter manages with a broad and strategic understanding of the vacation rental market, long-term rentals, advanced pricing structures, in-house transaction coordination, and system automations.  He oversees the complete set-up and optimization of the booking system, pricing models, maintenance coordination, and automation workflows. Hunter’s strengths contribute to his hands-on leadership style, along with a deep understanding of applicable laws.  

Hunter is so passionate about the real estate industry and its trends with approximately a decade of experience.  He finds deep fulfillment in creating smooth, successful experiences for both Property Owners and Guests alike. Outside of work, Hunter enjoys baking artisan gourmet breads, playing beach volleyball, and spending quality time with his loving wife.

Assistant Property Manager

Carson holds outstanding passion and experience in Property Management, handling single family dwellings, condos, and multi-family units, focused on leasing strategies and harvesting a volatilely, growing Resident Populace.  He began his Property Management Career in college, as a Property Assistant for an on-campus apartment community.  Carson prides himself on his acute professional character, and interpersonal skills.  He is highly resourceful and talented in creative, out-of-the-box thinking and time management.  Every day, Carson amazes the Team with his cool and collective manner, and how he gets everything on his plate handled in his super chill way, thoroughly and to perfection.

Additionally, Carson has held professional positions catered to optimum customer service/relations and sales growth, and expansion opportunities.  Carson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from San Diego State University.

In his free time, Carson assists and supports his nephews with little league and other youth sports.  He also enjoys playing golf along the California coastal courses, watching exciting sport events, traveling to diverse, attractive locations, and spending quality time with close family and friends…a true MUST.

Amanda is passionate and experienced in Property Management.  Dedication is her mantra, possessing strong characteristics in supreme organizational skills, follow-through, attention to detail, reliability, resourcefulness, and clear, professional communication. Amanda is known for providing excellent Client Service and being an elite Liaison for Owners and Residents in diplomatic fashion.  Many of Amanda’s daily functions include coordinating maintenance requests, assisting with lease agreements, and supporting all daily property management operations.  Amanda earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from California State University San Marcos, where she learned to develop a strong foundation in interpersonal skills, professionalism, and client relations---all tools for life!

When not working, Amanda enjoys spending quality time with her Fiancé and her adorably, snuggly German Shepard, Nala.  Amanda loves to travel and explore new, diverse places. She is always up for a challenging hike with her family.  Amanda is a big fan of trying out new, local restaurants, and spending time outdoors whenever possible, enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

Office Administrative Manager

Rebekah holds a lengthy passionate Career in Hospitality Management.  She has been involved in Hotel Operations, where there was promotion to leadership roles from Front Desk Management to positions in Operations Management.  She possesses strong traits in high commitment to the Team, keen leadership skills, excellent work ethics, and standards that set her apart.  Rebekah holds a Degree in English Education with a Minor in Public Relations. Recognized for her Outstanding Performance and Elite Customer Care, and was elected as Team Ambassador. 

Rebekah’s strengths contribute to strong team values and harvesting lasting relationships between Clients and Owners, where she makes an outstanding Professional Liaison.  On personal time, Rebekah enjoys her dream lifestyle of coastal living , engaging in creative writing, shopping with “bargains” in mind, and creating memorable adventures with her two cuddly pups and her loving family.

Vacation Rental Manager

Cole Holderman is one of the Vacation Rental Managers at Penny Realty.  A true rarity, a native born, he was born and raised in San Diego, growing up in the Point Loma/Ocean Beach area.  He graduated from SDSU in 2019 with a degree in Recreation Parks and Tourism Management.  

After graduation, Cole worked as a Recreation Leader, and then he was drawn, like a magnet to steel, to a career in Vacation Rentals in Pacific Beach.  Cole has centered his career in the field of Hospitality.  His experience has spanned to all areas of coastal San Diego, such as in Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, La Jolla, and Ocean Beach.  He has managed almost 100 homes by himself, overseeing all aspects of the homes, including hands-on maintenance, assisting Guests with day-to-day issues, and communicating with Owners on the status of their homes/investments, ensuring they are kept in the upmost, pristine condition.  

Cole was lucky to grow up mostly around the sunny California coast and southern California beaches.  He has loved to surf and skateboard, and has made his sport past times and experiences more well-rounded, most recently, by playing many rounds of golf.  He loves to play golf with his Dad, who taught him how to play.  Cole plays golf at Tecolote, Balboa, and Torrey Pines courses.  When Cole is not seen around the sunny coasts of San Diego, Cole is volunteering his time at animal shelters.  Cole has a beautiful, silky coated Golden Retriever, named Duke, who he loves to spend time with, along with this family and close friends.

During Daniela’s free time, she enjoys watching movies, listening to music and going to concerts.  She also loves to travel and explore new lands.
